Te Wāhi Toi/The Arts Place exists to connect the creative community of Queenstown and Wānaka with audiences, students, teachers, spaces and each other. We are a not-for-profit organisation powered by Three Lakes Cultural Trust and inspired by local arts and culture.
Ellie Roe (ellieboat) is a Wānaka based contemporary painter working primarily in watercolour and pencil. Inspired by the oceans and mountains of Aotearoa, she uses colours and mark-making to express the vivid joy of being in the presence of nature. Ellie has been developing her landscape practise for 8 years, but previously worked as a freelance illustrator and portrait artist. Her work combines organic forms and vivid colours to explore ever-changing environments and encourages the viewer to consider their personal relationship with the world around them.
